This is the inaugural post of this blog, and what’s a better way to start this off than with a colossal squid? That’s right–fishermen in New Zealand caught a colossal squid nearly 40 feet long and weighing half a ton. With a wider body, the colossal squid is heavier than the giant squid.
Speaking of marine creatures, I saw one of the most ridiculous animals a couple of weeks ago at the Monterey Bay Aquarium: the ocean sunfish (aka the mola mola). The mola mola is the kid in your class whose clothes don’t fit right because he’s shaped like a bent potato–but he’s so odd that you can’t look away, inexorably drawn to his grotesque beauty.
