Stephen Hawking will get to ride on a zero-gravity plane on April 26. Normally costing $3,500, the ride aboard the plane that’s also known as the vomit comet will be free for Hawking. The charm of a robotic voice, a wheelchair, and supreme intelligence aside, it seems the 65-year-old physicist is now famous just for being a pop culture icon. Even his comment that humanity’s survival will depend on colonizing space became news last summer. I bet other physicists, who might be as accomplished or even more accomplished than Hawking, are jealous of all the perks he’s receiving.
